Fuel to the Fire: What Happens When Momentum Meets Focus

A few months back, we sent out a newsletter titled “Momentum.” At the time, some of the biggest and most complex pieces of our puzzle finally clicked into place: The Aladdin was moving forward, new deals were lining up, and our social channels were starting to catch fire.

Looking back? That was just the warm-up.

Since then, things have shifted — from exciting to electric. Projects have leapt forward. New opportunities have landed on our desks. And our team keeps growing — in both size and grit. What started as simple updates has become something more: a living journal of the wins, the setbacks, and the vision driving us every day.

These newsletters are our way of sharing what we’re building — but more importantly, why we’re building it. It’s about more than bricks and mortar. It’s about what these projects unlock: activity on a once-quiet block, jobs where there weren’t any, and spaces that bring people together. That’s the kind of work that keeps us fired up.

So… what’s next? Here’s what we’re focused on this month:

The Aladdin Project: A New Era in Motion

Big milestone: Demo is officially DONE at The Aladdin! Decades of patchwork have been peeled back to make room for what this building was always meant to be.

✅ Floors 12–15 are fully framed.
✅ Rough-ins for MEP are done on floors 13–15.
✅ New unit layouts feel incredible — light-filled, open, and modern while honoring the historic bones.

Next up: Roof replacement kicks off next week, which means the street will be closed and a massive crane will be in place. (Sorry in advance to our neighbors — it’ll be worth it!)

Meanwhile, the new exterior elevator is steadily moving forward — a huge win for accessibility and logistics as we head into finish work. Every week, The Aladdin feels less like a relic and more like the crown jewel it’s meant to be for downtown KC.

What’s Happening on Social

In the last 90 days, our Instagram has reached 5.2 million views and added 41,000+ new followers. Our most-watched reel — restoring more than 300 windows at The Aladdin — sparked a wave of conversation and racked up 90,000+ interactions.

A happy editing accident even turned into a new format that’s quickly becoming a favorite.

As our audience grows, so does the national conversation around adaptive reuse — and we’re proud to be a small but mighty part of that momentum.

The Holtman Building: Bringing the Crossroads Back to Life

Just a few blocks from The Aladdin, the next chapter is about to start: We’re closing on the Holtman Building next week!

This two-story brick and concrete building once supported a water tower — soon, it’ll support something new entirely:

✨ A rooftop bar to draw people in and bring the buzz back to the block.
✨ Eight high-end, condo-finish lofts — light-filled, modern, and full of character you don’t find in buildings like this anymore.
✨ Ground floor retail and office space, with three tenants already secured. Can’t share names yet, but trust us — you’ll know them when you see them.

Loft breakdown:

• 4x 1 bed / 1 bath (~1,100 sqft each)

• 1x 2 bed / 1.5 bath (1,500 sqft)

• 1x 2 bed / 2 bath (1,800 sqft)

• 1x 2 bed / 2 bath (2,100 sqft)

• 1x 3 bed / 2 bath (2,300 sqft)

Projects like this take more than drawings — it’s about coordination, alignment, and shared vision. We’re working closely with the City to line up the right tools and partnerships to get this across the finish line.

The impact? 40+ permanent jobs, new energy for surrounding businesses, and real activity on a block that’s been quiet for too long. This one matters.
